Leaving For Argentina !!

So my long awaited trip to Argentina is almost here. I have one more week of work, then im going to head down to dads for halloween weekend. I need to get a few things before I head off and he is going to take me to the airport. thanks dad. I leave monday the 2nd at noon I get in buenos aires at about noon on the 3rd.

Im going to hang out for a day or 2 in BA then going to head to tucuman. I miss luz too much. But I will prolly head back for a few days with her at some point maybe. she has finals while i am there so she still does have to do some studying.

I will be returning on the 26th to Sac at 11 30.

I cant wait!

our yosemite trip

so I had a few days off this week and it wasnt looking like I was going to be the rest of the week so we decided to go to yosemite. of course as soon as i booked the hotel I got work for the 2 days we decided to go. all good though.

we took 89 to 395 and went in the east gate through tioga pass

we spent the day meandering through the park saw a few falls saw all the main stuff el cap half dome etc.

we decided the next day on our way home to go back on highway 4 and go see calaveras big tree

Luz's mom came in on tuesday she came as her birthday present to herself kinda her B-day was monday, she missed seing luz. so we have been goin around showing her the tahoe area. she will be staying with us for about three weeks

this was in tahoe city it was a nice little walk along the shore here

these were in kings beach, it was really windy the water was really choppy, but made it great for the wind boarders it was cool we got to see them setting up and to actually take off it was cool, we ate a little picnic lunch and then went on and walked around it was a fun day.

So the past few weeks for us has been all of our friends leaving so its kinda sad... but we have been having parties and barbecues and backyard jib sessions. soo finally I have some good shots of me snowboarding.

Luz is on her way to the doctor today I believe she will be cleared to start using her wrist again at least for some stuff. She has been able to grab some stuff with it past few days.

Im getting a cold bleh and we are both working 6 days a week for right now weve been very tired lately.

we both hope the best for the 2 pregnant women. Love you all hope to hear good news from both of you.

Luz's Update

Soo she later remembered more exactly what happened I guess she was riding the Log and started to fall backwards on the log and she put her wrist out to brace yourself and we ended up with this

its really actually an odd braek it is more what you would only see in kids almost a greenstick fracture it like slintered and the head of the radius pushed inward towards the ulna. They gave her 2 options pull traction and reset the bone or $20-$30,000 surgery, one which we could go to argentina and have done for almost nothing so we decided to have it reset she goes in for another x-ray and if it is healing properly a cast otherwise she may be going back to argentina a little sooner than we thought.

this is once they reset the bone it looks pretty good to me.

She is getting extra special love and even is getting a gift (as I was told "My mom always gets me something new when I get hurt") so as of our next check we will be going to get our tattoo's her a wave crashing over a snowy mountain, and me the family crest with some addition I will scan them tonight and post them.

She is feeling much better these days than the first at least hopefully the doctors say its healing properly come monday.

As for me luckily we are getting snow and LOTS of it, not only for the fresh Pow days but also means I can work on saturday and sunday shoveling for $20/hr

another update

well not much has been going on up here, the little snow we have been getting has just barely strung us along. but we have tried to make the best of it. well and hopefully it keeps up what is going on right now as I write this. its dumping pretty good right now.

the log has injured more ski schoolers this year than guests I think, well add one more

today, Luz broke her arm, I will have more of an update tommorrow as I'm not exactly sure

what/how its broke but from what I gathered it was a spiral fracture just above the wrist. right now they are ressetting and casting it up. keep my baby in your prayers hope that it feels and heals well.

a little update on us

luz and I have really been working on carving since all we have had is sun for past week and looks that way for another week. She is getting really good.

So now that our holiday season was over we got to have our first employee party. this consists of dinner and then opening Chair 6 from 5:30- 8:00 and at the bottom of the lift there is six 30 paacks of beer for all to drink well except me since I was working.

Well so I made the best of it, I got some good night shots

Some Serious Snow

Soo we have been getting ansy around here to say the least wating for the snow.

and our waiting paid off the first couple nights we accumallated a foot maybe, then it came and when it came it came HARD, saturday night it picked up and then over sunday night we got 2 feet overnight maybe 3 i put out a cone right before we went to sleep and it was only showing about 3 inches left. today we probably got another 2 1/2 feet complete whiteout at points.

we did some shopping with a friend, then we decided to go hike a run.it was starting to get dark quick, lets just say it was deep in spots chest deep

were glad to have snow again, we open friday WooHoo!!!

Christmas Tree!

Sooo, I'm a little late posting this, But a few days ago we went and cut down our Christmas Tree.

so after breakfast we went and against my better judgement I grabbed the small Chainsaw, knowing Luz was gonna have to carry it out since I would be taking the tree. We hop in the work truck and go to the backside.

We hike to under the cornice on Chair 2 were there are a plenty of nice christmas trees, and ones that need to be cleared anyways.

well there was alot of nice trees but I wanted a perfect tree well i finally decided that the top of this pretty tall tree was what I wanted, well Iwanted it out of the run too.

SO yea i was right I should have brought my big saw because they have idiots running these litte saws and they are just junk even though they are like 1 month old. but none the less I got her down. I have a video of it though we will see if it lets me put it on here it isnt right now.

I cut it off some but I forgot a tape measure so I had to leave it long. Luz took the saw and I drug the tree out.

once we got back I measured it and cut her off. I didnt have a stand but I made one up real quick.
We put on the lights, but no ornaments yet.

The Move

So yea we finally moved into our new place.

We have been waiting and waiting they were putting in new furniture and it needed a new door which they just had to go buy and I would put in, the people who rented it before the pilot light went out in the heater so they used the oven and the stove as the house heater so they have to still replace the oven. so I had told them hey can I get a heads up a few days before so I could pack my stuff over a couple nights , "Ohh Sure, we will let you know before".

Well then a few days ago at about 1 pm at work I'm "Asked" heh yeaaa.. to be out of our place and over to the new one because the cleaning ladies will be there the next morning. luckily Luz was off so she started packing and Kieth lent me his big truck and a few loads (and hours) later we were all moved over here.

the first night there was stuff everywhere and we pretty much just unpacked enough stuff to clear the bed off and be able to brush our teeth. I was very tired worked all day then straight into moving ughh

We both had the next day off luckily so we could get some stuff put away, and so I could put in the new door. It was another long day but by the end of the day everything was pretty well sorted out. We still need to figure out a better hanging situation

The big log

Soo this is something I have been the major worker on this project, not exactly 100% but real close.... my only regret is i dont have pictures of the earlier stages of this project as I didnt have a camera then. So first off this tree was about 5 feet in diameter 200+ foot lodgepole I helped fall this tree Kieth(my supervisor) wouldn't let John or I do this one though we both wanted to really bad. I got to bang in the wedges to make this beast of a tree fall. we then bucked it (cutting the branches off)some of these branches were couple feet in diameter. I then got to run the dozer to skid this beast out. it broke off when we fell it it was probably 100' long then we cut it down to about 70'. Then on to planing it with a crazy planer attachment to a chainsaw thats right a 50hp planer heh. then to staining and some marine varnish. then to the fun part getting it up.

We took it from the shop where it was worked on to the location of where we were putting it in. We used old tower tubing as our posts for it, we dug em in with the excavator to dig them in.

we then hooked it up and we picked her up and set it on the posts.

once we got it on there we welded some brackets on

tommorow im cutting some hole in the brackets with the torch and going to set it back on there and lag bolt it in and a little paint to the tower tubing. then all we need is snow again.

Our Day Off

So lately I have been getting more days off then I would like to have. Luckily luz and I got to have the same days off at least so we decided to go out the tunnels an go play around.

We then ended up meeting up with some friends while we where out there that had the same idea as we did. These guys all ride what we call alternative snow transportation snowskates snowbikes etc. so we found us a good spot and had some fun.

I picked it right up, then my buddy said we could try doubles so I was game.

Luz had so much fun she decided to try herself

She did great it was alot of fun. By the time we got home our shoes were drenched but it was a

great day.

The Snow Has Arrived

Well we wish.... and we wish... and we wish some more as we await the first good snow...

We finally get our wish, the snow came it dumped for a few days. We actually left the hill to go to Sacramento for a couple days right as it really started to fall. Luz and I had dinner with Dad and Molly mmm sushi, then watched a movie at dads as we knew it was going to dump bad that night. the next day we ran some errands around Sac, luz got some new bindings and both of us some new boots, but I wanted to get back up to the summit before it got too crazy. As we passed Blue Canyon the clouds were black as night, and then it came. Well so as soon as we get home were both going nuts wanting to get out there so we did a little hiking.

I had to pull out the old arbor wasnt sure if it was gonna be fully covered. We actually had about 2 feet of coverage, I was pretty suprised. We took some pictures and then we were off for the first turns of the season.
